Back in the USSR rings in the New Year by celebrating the anniversary of the revolutionary victories that took place in Cuba and Haiti on New Year's Day in 1959 and 1804 respectively. Both the Haitian and Cuban Revolutions showed how even the most impoverished and oppressed peoples on our planet can break the chains of slavery and imperialism and seize control over their own destiny, becoming living examples of how liberation can be won against all odds. On this show we also talk to Brendan Campisi about Edgar Snow's classic book "Red Star Over China", concerning the heroic struggle of the brave Chinese people, spearheaded by Mao Zedong and the Communist Party, for the liberation of their country from domestic reactionaries and foreign imperialists alike.
Music from Paul Robeson, Victor Jara, and the Choir of the Peoples Liberation Army
