Lightly on the Ground Radio presents the second show around the public hearing staged by the Uranium Working Group in late November of 2012. The meeting was called to inform the public about the Groupâs findings and to suggest that regulations be developed that would govern the activity. Sandy Libby Bourne was recorded at the Science Museum of Virginia before the Uranium Mining Group public hearing and Olga Kolutushkina recorded her comments at home on a smart phone. They are both informed and thoughtful voices: one works at a think tank which supports uranium mining as well as development of âVirginia Madeâ energy of all kinds; and one a volunteer who opposes uranium mining and supports the development renewable energy resources. They both work in the DC area. People are concerned about the long term effects of such an activity on the local and regional economy.
