In the first hour, Flavio Santi, indigenous healer and conservationist from Amazanga, the northern Amazon of Ecuador spoke about the importance of protecting and preserving the land, culture and traditions of his people. Santi is the President of the Wanduk Foundation and Director of the School of Guayusa, dedicated to protecting the earth and the shamans that carry the land's healing wisdom. The school is open to everyone and provides instruction in ancestral teachings, herbal medicines, shamanic traditions and sustaining the connections to nature on both local and international levels.
It is Santi's work and vision for his people to counter the plundering of the land by oil, timber and mining industries.
Justin Wilson, Santi's translator, did an excellent job interpreting.Justin is a writer, translator and photographer who also is dedicated to the preservation and protection of nature and the natural medicines.

In the second hour, Barry C. Lynn, senior fellow at the New America Foundation in Washington, D.C. and Director of the Corporate Governance and Security Project. and author of "Cornered: The New Monopoly Capitalism and the Economics of Destruction", discussed the dangers of monopolistic control over our economy and lives.
Lynn provided us with an historical context and detailed the ways in which their tentacles have spread throughout the world dismantling entire industries and ruining our options and very lives.
"They're private tyrannies endangering humanity, basic freedoms, environmental sustainability, and planetary survival. Without exaggeration, they're unaccountable, unchecked weapons of mass destruction."
Lynn ended on a note of hope, by saying we can overcome these forces and threats to our democracy if we face up to the true nature of these dangers.
