Episode 50: A Journey to Discostan... and Cadillacs in Space
We did some travelling this week on UNSEEN LEGION RADIO. We started the night with a special DJ EARL-E Mix and soon after embarked on a Journey to DISCOSTAN. Discostan is a funky dance party in Los Angeles, every second Wednesday of the month whose motto is, "From Beirut to Bangkok via Bombay." DJs ARSHIA HAQ and AJI blessed us with over an hour of amazing music that had everyone in the studio grooving. The music was so good, it prompted MC PROSE to submit the word "Sampladelic" to the Urban Dictionary. It was accepted, of course. If you are in the L.A. area, be sure to check out Discostan; you won't want to leave. We also spoke with the artists about their aesthetic and influences, styles and more. Not to be missed. YESKI ANOMIKS joined us in our final hour, where we had a visit from the emerging trio, CADILLACS IN SPACE. SHY CARTER, ALEON CRAFT AND ROBYNTHEBANK are one dope crew. Their incredible new impromptu video "Overdose", featuring all 3 playing mandolins is going viral on YouTube. You might remember Robyn from her other band, BEVERLY KILLS, Aleon from the hip-hop group The BACKWOODS, and Shy from his work with Rob Thomas, among others. Together, Cadillacs in Space has crafted a funky, eclectic and undeniable set of jams. Recently signed to INTERSCOPE, look for an album 10 2014.
