The indigenous community of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta is located downstream from the tar sands. A disproportionate number of people have been diagnosed with and are dying from rare cancers and other auto-immune diseases. A recent study confirmed that the water and the fish are not safe for human consumption. Fort Chipewyan community member Mike Mercredi speaks about the impacts of the tar sands from the front line of the struggle against the largest industrial project in world history.
