The continuing assault of news reporting on Israel’s escalating theft of Palestinian land, house demolitions, and armed settlers threatening the movements of indigenous Palestinians is so constant that we tend to become insensitive to its brutality. So this morning we will take a deep look at the current atrocity taking place in Masafer Yatta. What makes this story all the more galling is that the theft here by Israel is to take Palestinian land to build a military installation, a firing range. Given all the land that is Israel, they choose to occupy Palestinian land for their military operation. How is that for a finger in the eye?

He joins Foundation for Middle East Peace’s Sarah Anne Minkin to discuss the acceleration of threats and violence from the Israeli army and settlers in Masafer Yatta, both inside of Firing Zone 918, which is under unique threat of expulsion and forced population transfer, and outside of it, including in A-Twani, Basel’s village.
