Today we feature a speech given by Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi during Columbia’s Anti Apartheid Rally, March 1st, 2017. His topic: Palestine in the Age of Trump. First Khalidi is introduced, then he presents. We apologize for the harsh audio distortion in that recording. We'll replace it if we can find a better one.

But first, we read a speech on commonality delivered at a rally in Chicago by Lesley Williams, an Afro-American of the Jewish Faith and member of Jewish Voice for Peace. He calls out the so-called Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for its extensive spying on Muslim, Arab, anti-apartheid and other political activists. It was also revealed that the ADL spied on and passed information to South African authorities on African National Congress leader Chris Hani, shortly before his assassination.

He continues: "So I ask my white Jewish friends and family: is the perceived safety of people who look like you worth the continued oppression, incarceration and murder of people who look like me?"

Williams hopes that the obscenity of Charlottesville will lead all Americans to examine their complicity in tolerating institutional oppression. But in particular, Jewish Voice for Peace calls on our own Jewish community to condemn and disavow our organizational support of racism and Islamophobia, both past and present.
This Week In Palestine (a weekly part of Truth and Justice Radio) is an award-winning three-quarter-hour segment of news from Palestine and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland. It speaks from the point of view of Palestinians and those who care about them. It's a regular part of Truth and Justice Radio, aired Sundays 6-10am ET on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA, streaming live and archived for two weeks at wzbc.org; TJR's website, truthandjusticeradio.org, has a link to This Week In Palestine archives back thru 1-6-2008; editions are also accessible at radio4all.net or by navigating through our playlists. (At this important time, TJR has been airing Palestine coverage IN ADDITION to that provided by This Week In Palestine.) We hope you'll write to us at tjradio@fastmail.com if you rebroadcast our work, or have questions or comments.
