The point from which average global temperature rise (https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/201507) is measured dates back to 1750, the beginning of the industrial revolution, and the time at which the ever increasing use of fossil fuels began. Since 1750, the planet has warmed by more than 1 degree centigrade. McPherson's book âExtinction Dialogs: How to Live with Death in Mind,â explains how this small global rise in temperature is leading to a large scale mass extinction on the planet.
