Spring moves north in Wisconsin at about 12 miles per day, according to Hopkins Law of Bioclimatics. If we compare biological events in Madison to those in far northern Wisconsin, there should be about a 21-day interval between the two areas, given their distance apart (250 miles or so) and their differences in elevation.
