Substance abuse is an issue ubiquitously related to homelessness; some people fall into homelessness due to their addiction, and others turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with homelessness. Ensuring that people have a way to overcome addiction is often the key to returning healthy, functional people to a home. Todayâs program features Karen Stanley, Chief Executive Officer of the nonprofit CARITAS. Sheâll discuss homelessness and addiction in the context of one of CARITASâ services, The Healing Place. The Healing Place supports homeless adults who are either in recovery from or currently dealing with addiction. Inspire Indeed also welcomes Bob, a successful former client of The Healing Place who now gives back to the mission as a peer mentor.
