From SPAIN- Alison Hughes reports on the inauguration of the new Mexican President Obrador who says he will end corruption and impunity, and turn away from neo-liberal economic model. France has been rocked by protests which began over a fuel tax intended to discourage the use of diesel vehicles- it rapidly expanded into an anti-government protest against social inequality and poor living standards, and President Macron's free market economic reforms favoring the wealthy.

From GERMANY- More on the riots in France where the government dropped the fuel tax after the focus of the protests had shifted to economic and educational reforms. The French government has threatened that protest violence will be met with more violence. The annual UN Climate Summit opened in Poland with dire warnings that the world is way off course in fighting global warming. A scientist describes the goal of the summit and the positive developments that solar energy costs less than ever and that grassroots actions are underway.

From CUBA- In Spain a far-right political party won a number of seats in a regional parliament, the first such victory since the end of the Franco era- the party received the support of Steve Bannon's organization called the Movement. The influence of Bannon in global elections has led Bernie Sanders to form an international democratic movement to counter authoritarianism and the Movement. The Yemeni armed forces is accusing the Saudi allied military of continuing to bombard with banned cluster bombs which are produced in the US.

From RUSSIA- Sophie Shevardnadze interviewed Katrina Vanden Heuvel, the editor of the US magazine called The Nation. They discuss US/Russia relations, the Democratic Party belief that Trump is Putin's puppet, and the danger of reestablishing a cold war. Katrina is a major critic of Trump but says that opposition to him should not be opposition to common sense. She compares the current time to that of Reagan and Gorbachev which resulted in a relaxing of nuclear weapon tensions. She is hopeful about the newly elected young Democrats.
