Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives to replace. Volunteers do the work, but disk drives and bandwidth are not free. Click on this bar to contribute, even a dollar helps.

About radio4all, The A-Infos Radio Project

The A-Infos Radio Project was formed in 1996 by grassroots broadcasters, free radio journalists and cyber-activists to provide ourselves with the means to share our radio programs via the Internet. The effort found common cause with the Anarchist News Service but went its own way with its own server hardware and internet connection a few years later. To our knowledge, the A-Infos Radio Project was the first grassroots media project of its kind on the internet. Our goal is to support and expand the movement for democratic communications worldwide. We exist to be an alternative to the corporate and government media which do not serve struggles for go liberty, justice and peace, nor enable the free expression of creativity. The archived material is available to anyone who wants it free of charge.

Submissions from all stations and independent contributors are welcome in the service of these goals. All material is donated by its contributors who are solely responsible for its content, and is not reviewed or edited by anyone but the contributor. The current maintainers of radio4all consider it more as an autonomous public utility rather than advancing any particular agenda. It continues to function as people choose to use and maintain it.

Who We Are

radio4all was formed in 1996 by programmers from noncommercial radio stations in California, see the Wikipedia entry. The site is maintained now by two engineer/activists who have been working in noncommercial radio and open internet since the 1960s. Originally an unincorporated association, radio4all is now an activitiy of the nonprofit Northern California Public Broadcasting, an IRS 501(c)(3) corporation formed in 1990 by a group including current radio4all contributors to start a noncommercial FM radio station near Ukiah. The radio station didn't happen but the nonprofit corporation lives on with radio4all as its main activity. It is not affiliated with KQED, Inc. or the public media outlet KQED which owns ncpb.com.
